Long Time No See...

Okay, so obviously, it's been a while since I posted. A variety of factors caused this...training got a little weird in that I was working late for almost three weeks straight and would come home after dark or just after the sub-contractors had already locked up the house. That actually wasn't initially a problem, but then they installed the garage doors, so if there's no one in the house, I have to either resort to taking pictures through the window or not at all.

Of course, the translation here is that you are about to be assaulted by A LOT of pictures. I have organized them by day below.

So first, we have the December 3rd interior photos:

December 4th, they started putting the rock on the house...

December 5th: finished putting rock up and started on the mailbox.

December 6th: All cleaned up outside and completed mailbox.

December 13th and 18th: Spackling/texturing, tile work, and starting on trim work.

Okay, so as you can tell, I missed a lot of stuff since the doors were locked when no one was there. They still haven't put a code on the door so I'm locked out unless I time it just right. I also went away for a week with the hubby to visit his family in California, so I missed some progress. It's not nearly as far along as it should be. Peeking in through the windows yesterday (crunching around in the snow this area got twice this past twice week), we saw most of the trim work is done. The cabinets are built, but they don't have doors. They haven't started the fireplace trim yet. The only other thing we could make out is one of the banisters lying on the stairs ready to go on the brackets this coming week.

I don't know if I mentioned before, but we were originally set to close on the 31st...so tomorrow. All this time, both of us have been asking Kirby, "Are you sure? Are you sure?" and until last week he said it was on track. They were set back by the electric company taking its sweet time as well as cabinet doors not coming in when they were supposed to. We talked to Amy, our realtor, today, and apparently the house won't be ready for appraisal until sometime between the 10th and the 18th of January. That means we won't be able to close until around the 25th.

I have to say I'm quite disappointed at the delay. I was hoping to be in the house for the New Year. I'm ready to move in. If only the house felt the same, huh?

Remember, we were supposed to close on the 31st, but they haven't even poured the driveway yet.

And where to continue....?

So, obviously stuff has been happening at the house. I just didn't much feel the need to post about boring stuff like wiring and the like. However, I was quite bad in that I didn't even post about picking out floors...or lighting...and how I went $300 over budget on that last bit after trying very hard to trim the fat.

Okay, so after all the wiring and plumbing went in, they started insulating. I made sure to keep a fair distance during that time frame because I've had a few run ins with insulation and it mostly ended in a nice long shower to stop the itching. So that, coupled with the fact that I have been working odd hours the past week and now this one means that pictures also were hard to come by anyway. Here's what I got in that area...

Sheet rock went up on Friday of last week. As for the outside, the bricks started to go up on Thursday. They continued the brick on Friday and today and the stone is officially in, too, so I can now see the two colors side by side...and possibly even on the same building by tomorrow. It's a beautiful hue of gray that I think will go so nicely with the red of the brick while bringing out the dark mortar and other dark tones on the house itself. I just hope I didn't completely screw up the colors...We shall see.

So, without further ado, here are the pictures of the house from today:

Pictures Galore!

Okay, so I've been really bad over the past three days. Sorry guys! It's just been rather hectic with work and trying to stay in shape...I just come home feeling so tired. For those of you who are seeing my album on facebook, it isn't that much of a shortfall, but anyone else...well, you're probably dying to know.

Honestly, you're probably dying to know either way.

Okay, so...first I'll start off just posting the three normal pics of the outside side by side so you can view them one right after the other... In order Wednesday, Thursday, Friday:

Okay, so I'm pretty sure you can tell what was done. The gist, however, is the beginnings of shingles on Wednesday. Whatever the stuff is they use for starting stucco, windows, and the beginnings of insulating tape for Thursday. And of course, today you can see the big change was shingles, but they also finished the tape and added a door frame to the front of the house. They also did that to back...more to come in a second...

You also probably noticed that they toted in the brick yesterday morning. Don't know when they're planning on getting it on the house. Probably sometime next week otherwise it wouldn't already be chilling out there. I promise you it's not all that single color of red. It's got greys, whites, and really what I can only describe as a weathered look. You'll see what I mean when they get it on the house.

Also, we have shingles pretty much on the whole back of the house, as you can see from this pictures to the right. I know this is only the second or third picture I've taken of the back of the house, but let's be honest...it is the back of the house. I'll post more maybe once more stuff is going on in the back...ya know...like landscaping and something other than 2x4s to hold the roof up.

I went upstairs for the first time yesterday but didn't take any pictures. I did however, do that today. The first picture to me is the most striking. It's standing on the upstairs landing looking down to the first story revealing the foyer. It kinda reminds me of a cathedral. I don't know why. It's going to look amazing once it's finished. The second photo is looking into bedroom 2 at the back of the house. You can see the sideways window. Then we have the third photo, which shows Bedroom 3 at the front of the house (they left the window propped open and probably forgot to close it). Then the last photo is looking into through the bathroom at bedroom 2 from bedroom 3.

I know, I know. It's hard to see what's going on, but once they've put the sheet rock up, I promise to take some more pictures because then the dimensions will be that much easier to figure out!

So upcoming next week, I have a meeting with Kirby on Monday to discuss the stairs...you know the things that have been giving us so much trouble? Hopefully we'll figure it out, but there are no support in the foyer right now, so fingers crossed we don't need anything! Side note on that, we also found out that getting a wood fireplace will, in fact, be an impossibility due to the way the house is laid out, but we can deal with that. A B-Vent it is, right? Never had a gas fireplace like this before, so I'm hoping it doesn't disappoint.

Finally, I set up an appointment at the flooring place on Thursday of next week since that's the only day I get off work fairly early, so I'll get to go through and pick out the floors. I'm excited about this because that's really going to give me an overall idea of what everything is going to look like. I know Kevin's a little upset about not getting to go, but scheduling is generally like that. Ah, I know he'll trust me, though. We have similar tastes, thank God.

Anyway, until next week!
